[:it] Grazie a SPARC, Students for FreeCulture e PLoS che hanno organizzato la manifestazione per sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica su questo argomento, oggi si celebra il primo Open Acces Day, ovvero la giornata dell’accesso libero, cioè l’idea che la conoscenza deve essere libera. Su OpenaccessDay.org si trovano informazioni sulle varie iniziative in corso in tutto il mondo

Su Dschola Tv, abbiamo pubblicato uno dei video che gli organizzatori dell’Open Access Day, hanno realizzato per promuovere il loro messaggio. Perché l’open access è importante? Ad esempio, perché ci sono degli studenti che scelgono che esami dare in base al costo dei libri e delle pubblicazioni scientifiche… e siccome come qualcuno ha detto, la verità è sempre rivoluzionaria, qualche tempo fa (febbraio 2007) alcuni studenti non hanno fatto altro che appiccicare l’etichetta del prezzo ad alcune pubblicazioni scientifiche per denunciarne il costo esorbitante… un tema a cui in tempi di tagli anche le nostre Università dovrebbero essere sensibili…

Oggi è stata anche la giornata di lancio dell’OASPA,  Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association che vede l’adesione di prestigiose case editrici scientifiche. Per festeggiare l’avvenimento oggi e nei prossimi giorni sono in uscita, in modalità open access, alcune pubblicazioni, tra cui:

Thanks to SPARC, Students for FreeCulture e PLoS today is the first Open Access Day, to rise awareness about this topic, or in other words, about the idea that knowledge must be free. On OpenaccessDay.org you can find information about celebration around the world.
On Dschola Tv, an Italian school network web tv, we published one of videos that the promoters of the Open Access Day, made for spread their words.Unfortunately it is only in english, and no subtitles at the moment are available, let’s hope they could add subtitles soon. Why open access is so important? For instance, because some students have to choose their exams, also by the costs of the books… anyway, as Gramsci said, “the truth is always revolutionary”, some students tagged scientific publication with their very expensive label cost… in these days of financial cracks, this should have a dramatical impact!
Today also OSPA Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association was launched and in order to celebrate this day, some books will be published freely, like this one:
